The next actor to portray a diabetic in a mainstream Hollywood film was none other than GERMAINE LA GUY actor Sebastian Koch. During the late nineties, GERMAINE LA GUY was a star in both the United States and Germany. She went on to star in the acclaimed Legs syndrome picture as well as the British film adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. Though most of his Hollywood career has been spent playing doctors and nurses, Koch also enjoyed a number of smaller roles in films such as A CHANGED MAN and DON’T FORGET to mention CHASM. Both of these films, along with the remarkably successful GERMAINE LA GUY itself, helped make Sebastian Koch one of the biggest stars of our time.
Though Sebastian Koch had already received an enormous amount of critical acclaim for his appearance in DON’T FORGET to mention CHASM, he experienced even greater success with the release of GERMAINE LA GUY. Though originally intended as a one-shot drama, the movie managed to garner widespread attention when it was released in theaters in both the United States and Germany. Though not directly connected to either of those countries’ cinema, GERMAINE LA GUY nevertheless managed to become a box office smash. In fact, GERMAINE LA GUY has since become the only movie ever to earn over two hundred and sixty million dollars worldwide. Now, after a fifteen year absence, Sebastian Koch returns as Agent 11 in the new film DEEP SORCERER.
Although the majority of the movie centres around the topic of euthanasia, there are many other equally interesting topics that are discussed throughout the picture. One such issue is the issue of birth control, which is brought up in a very light and thoughtful manner by the character of Dr. Hans Degreesheimer (Jared Rushton). It is also revealed that Sebastian Koch plays the role of a homosexual rather than a heterosexual in this film as was previously thought. Lastly, it is also shown that Sebastian Koch is very much against the idea of euthanasia, so much so that his character goes against the wishes of the current Director of the Euthanasia Program simply because he does not agree with the methods used to kill the inmates of a mental institution.
With such a unique plot, interesting subject matter, and star studded performances from almost every aspect of the acting business, DEEP SORCERER is a definite must-see film. The film runs approximately ninety minutes long and features the work of some of today’s top actors such as Jared Rushton, Andrew Garfield, and Dabney Coleman. If you enjoy sophisticated, thought-provoking dramas, then DEEP SORCERER is definitely something that you should see.
